Its the simple things really

Today I am thankful for Jake's snuggles while he plays with my hair before I lay him in his crib at night and for Will's sweet laughs as he runs through the sprinklers in the front yard at 9 pm when he should be in bed.

Life is interesting these days. So much has happened since Jakey was born, just 9 short months ago. Tonight as I lay in bed, I was writing blog posts in my head. But tonight, I got up and came to the computer to actually get them out. More on the life catch up on another post but tonight I wanted to write to Will and Jake.

Will, you are such a unique and special little boy. You take life by the horns and have the energy of the sun. You are so busy in your world. You love to be active, usually bouncing off the walls, but really you never stop. Whether you are climbing the walls, riding your bikes or plasma car around the house, building diving boards and pools with your lincoln logs, building trapeze lines with your tinker toys, constructing train tracks, reading your Cars book, or bouncing a ball you insist on independence and risk. It's such a joy to be a part of your life. Mommy and Daddy are amazed at your knowledge base in just a quick 3 1/2 years. We love talking with you and trying to answer your multitude of questions. There is nothing that doesn't interest you. You have all the Toy Story movies memorized as well as Up. You are so excited about Cars 2 coming out so you have been watching Cars on the Ipad for weeks now. You just saw your second movie in the theater last week with Granny and Ope; Kung Fu Panda 2. You have traveled much in your 3 1/2 years, to Colorado, Wyoming, Washington DC, New York City, and to Bo and Jude's house. You can help Mommy seat people at Bejas. You love to help cook and bake. You know about recycling and what numbers are recyclable. You know about many types of transportation (cars, airplanes, trains) and heavy machinery. You know about the moon and stars and the planets. You love pushing limits. You are fascinated by everything. You spend your days right now at Summer Camp at St. Mary's. Ope picks you up for camp every morning and takes you on his way to work. You seem to enjoy camp and are meeting new friends and coming home with new games to play and new subjects to talk about everyday. Mommy and Daddy love our little moments with you. Even the trying ones.

Jakey, I cannot believe it has been 9 months. Sometimes I look back and its just a blur but yet I have vivid memories along the way. You had your 9 month well baby check. Stats are (drum roll please): 24 1/2 pounds (98%), 30 inches long (98%), 48 cm head circumference (99 %). Dr Rick says you are proportional, look healthy and are doing great! Way to go! You've been busy looking around since you were born making sure to not miss out on too much. You have perfected your crawl over the last month and can move pretty fast. You love your walker and are quite content with daddy to just be cruising around the house in circles eating puffs. Not so much with Mommy though ... if Mommy is around you want to play. Your favorite activity is to be wherever your brother is. Will loves you very much and is as patient with you as he can be. You can pull yourself up with almost anything. Mommy loves coming into your room at 6 am when the first light of day speaks to you and sees you standing up in your crib. You love to eat! Do you ever. You still drink Goat's milk but you love eating and trying new things. Let's see ... blueberries, mangoes, apples, pears, melon, peaches, bananas, nectarines, strawberries, sweet potatoes, carrots, purple carrots, butternut squash, beans, beets, spinach, broccoli, kale, peas, quinoa, barley, brown rice and pizza crust, just to name a few.  Textures are interesting for you and we love to watch your brain work while you figure them out. Mommy loves that you enjoy goldfish because they are secretly her favorite snack. You aren't sure what to think of your puppies, Lexie and Abby, but are fascinated when they play with each other, bark and run around the house. You'd like to pet them but they aren't too sure they want to be pet by you. You've been swimming several times at Granny and Ope's pool and love to swing. Mommy started back to work as an attorney so you spend a few days a week with Lauren who loves you like an aunt. You love to go on walks with her and just when she thinks you have fallen asleep in the stroller she peeks and you are just smiling, taking your world in. Lauren loves to play with you and you get excited to see her. Mommy is so thankful to have Lauren in our lives. You talk all the time it seems. You can say ma-ma and it melts my heart. You babble too, practicing your syllables so you can one day talk. You say ba-ba when you see your bottle and Aaa for Abby. Mommy and Daddy love it when you sound like a Wookie. You are so chill and just go with the flow. We cannot imagine our life without you sweet boy.

So in the midst of raising two boys, running a restaurant and building a new home, Jenn goes back to work. Stay tuned ....

Eve of Jake Fletcher's Arrival

Heavens to Betsy ... it's September 19, 2010! I know, a long time since I said I was starting this whole blogging thing. As I sit here in the hospital debating on when to call for my ambien, wondering what I can do with my time ... I don't have my credit card so I can't shop ... I say, well, Jenno, why don't you write a blog entry!?!? Why, I answer myself, that is just simply a marvelous idea!

Truly its been a great pregnancy and we can't be more excited to meet Baby Jake tomorrow. After we arrived at the hospital this afternoon, my OB (Dr. Jennifer Dulaney) came to check on me. The plan was to have cervadil tonight and start my pitocin drip in the morning, but I was too far along on my own for the cervadil. So I am staying in the hospital anyway and tomorrow morning at 5 they will start the pitocin. It's actually kind of peaceful here in my room. It's raining a little outside and I am just here. No distractions. I have been texting friends and enjoying their responses. Eric has gone home to get a good night's sleep at home. No monitors for tonight, I get to sleep in my own clothes and no IV until the morning. I just took my Ambien. Sweet dreams are headed my way.

At 3 am they will come and get everything going. My pitocin drip will start at 5 AM.

Tomorrow is a new day! Our 3 will become 4. I can't wait to see Will hold Jake!!

Last year when I started this blog I had high hopes of actually blogging like all the cool people do in my life. Turns out, when I signed in today to follow Heather's blog, it has been a year since my one and only post. I can't believe how fast 2009 went by and in the blink of an eye it will be 2011! Stay tuned for the scenes and stories of the Bryla Bunch in 2009.
